No matter how difficult could be a grease stain to remove, you shouldn’t be worry about any permanent spots on your fabric as long as you act promptly with the right methods and tools. Remember that the sooner you treat an oil or grease stain, the easier it will come out. Follow the steps below to remove grease stains from fabrics effectively without leaving permanent marks after cleaning.
Instructions
- Sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder over the stain to absorb the excess oil or grease. Leave the absorbent to sit on the fabric for an hour or two, as advised by expert cleaners, so it can lift as much of the stain as possible, then brush it away.
- If the stains is stubborn or old, lay a stack of three to five paper towels on solid surface and place the garment with the stain face down on the paper towels. Moisten a clean, white cloth with a dry-cleaning solvent and blot the stain from back to force it out of the fabric into the paper towels. Replace the paper towels as they absorb the stain.
- Apply a laundry pretreater to the stained area, then wash the fabric in the hottest water allowed according to the care label of the garment.
- Let the fabric air dry. Do not use a dryer before the oil or grease stain is completely removed, as this may cause the stain to set into the clothing permanently.
