It can be a real challenge to remove blood stains from a carpet. Fortunately, most carpets that are manufactured today are stain resistant, which means that even the toughest stains such as blood can be successfully removed if prompt action is undertaken. Time is often essential when it comes to removing stains from a carpet, especially such caused by blood because blood tends to leave permanent stains on fabrics if it is left untreated.
Instructions

  1. Absorb as much of the blood as you can using paper towels, as advised by the carpet cleaning experts. Pour cold water on the affected area and continue soaking up the blood until all of it is gone. Constantly replace the bloody paper towel with new one while blotting to prevent spreading the stain. Use only cold water when removing blood stains, as hot water will permanently set the stain into the carpet.
  2. Use a mixture of 1 cup cold water and 1 cup of mild detergent to remove the remaining blood stain. Blot the stained area with paper towels as watching to keep the blood within the initial area of the stain. Press down paper towels repeatedly over the area where the blood stain was located to extract any moisture left into the carpet.
  3. Open windows or turn on a fan to help dry any wetness that remains in the carpet. Make sure to dry the carpet completely, otherwise mold problems may occur.

It is advisable to consult a carpet cleaning company before trying to remove blood stains, as some cleaning methods are more or less suitable to use depending on the type of material from which your carpet is made.
